Early liquor service hours granted for Calgary Stampede

AGLC is pleased to support Calgary's hospitality industry by providing the city's bars, restaurants and lounges with more flexible service hours during the 2024 Stampede.

From July 5 to 14, City of Calgary establishments (Class A, B and C liquor licensees) have blanket approval to start liquor service at 8:00 a.m. On Parade Day (July 5) liquor licensees along the route, can begin liquor service at 7:00 a.m., and some private events that obtain individual prior approval from AGLC can start serving at 6:30 a.m. during Stampede.

Closing hours for liquor service are not changing and all other rules guiding the service remain in effect. Licensees are expected to continue to offer service in a socially responsible way to ensure the safety of their patrons during these special hours.

Any group wishing to hold a special event are required to apply for a liquor licence a minimum of four to six weeks in advance of the event. Hours for special events are determined on a case-by-case basis. AGLC regularly considers early service hours for major international sporting events or for major community events such as the Calgary Stampede.
