Cannabis Bulletin
July 2, 2025
This bulletin is to advise all licensed cannabis retailers and registered cannabis representatives of amendments to Sections 1.6 and 1.7 of the Retail Cannabis Store Handbook (RCSH) and Sections 2.4 and 2.5 of the Cannabis Representative Handbook (CRH).
Effective immediately, applicants for retail cannabis store positions or registered cannabis representative positions are no longer required to be certified as Qualified Cannabis Workers and as a result, no longer have to submit an Application for Qualified Cannabis Worker form. In addition, these positions are no longer required to submit a criminal record check from their local police service to the AGLC.
If a person is employed in a supervisory capacity at a retail cannabis store or with a registered cannabis representative, this person must pass a records check to the satisfaction of the licensee or representative.
In addition, new employees will now be required to be certified in the SellSafe Staff Training Program within 30 days of their employment start date, instead of previously having to be certified prior to their employment start date.
The amended RCSH and CRH are available online. Please familiarize yourself with the new policies and ensure staff are notified of these changes.
