Charitable Gaming Bulletin
March 13, 2026
This bulletin is to advise all licensed charities of IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS to the Charitable Gaming Policies Handbook (CGPH). The following policies are effective March 13, 2026.
- AGLC is committed to reviewing policies to meet the needs of stakeholders, while maintaining an effective regulatory environment. As a result, policy amendments have been made to Section 2.1 and 4.1 of the CGPH:
- Subsection 2.1 has been amended to allow AGLC approval of interprovincial raffles conducted by charitable organizations affiliated with professional sports teams where there is not a comparable team in Alberta. Proceeds generated from raffle ticket sales in Alberta must be spent within the province on eligible charitable purposes as defined in the CGPH.
- Subsection 4.1 has been amended to provide flexibility for AGLC to approve use of proceeds requests outside of policy where significant community benefit has been demonstrated.
The amended CGPH may be accessed online.
Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies, update your Charitable Gaming Policies Handbook as required, and ensure all affected staff are notified of the new requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact AGLC’s Regulatory Division or call AGLC Customer Care at 1-800-561-4415.
