Agencies and suppliers play an important part in Alberta's liquor industry. As private businesses they supply and import the thousands of liquor products available for sale, on a consignment basis, with AGLC.

What is a liquor agency?

In Alberta, liquor agencies represent liquor suppliers. They import and market the supplier's liquor.

To confirm the representation, an agency must sign and submit a form called a "Letter of Understanding".

The supplier must sign and submit a form called a "Letter of Authorization".

What is a liquor manufacturer?

A person who operates an establishment for making liquor in Alberta. Manufacturers in Alberta need a Class E liquor licence before they can start producing.

Newly-licensed Class E manufacturers are automatically set up with AGLC as both a "Supplier" and an "Agency."
