Canadian Ski Patrol - Calgary Zone

Charity Story

The Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP) is a national organization devoted to development of standards and training of volunteers who provide first aid and ski patrolling services areas throughout Canada. The CSP has more than 5,000 members devoted to this cause.

In Calgary, approximately 200 CSP members provide volunteer services at five major ski areas plus nordic trails in the local area. As well, Calgary Zone members provide first aid and rescue services at international and local sports events, including numerous summer events (ski and snowboard, marathons, etc), plus avalanche awareness training for its members and the public. Each year, Calgary Zone CSP members assist hundreds of people who suffer injury during outdoor pursuits. The annual budget for the Calgary Zone is over $150,000 to provide administration, training, purchase of equipment and national member fees. Funds earned from casinos contribute greatly to these costs which keep membership fees low.
