What is a liquor agency?

In Alberta, liquor agencies represent liquor suppliers. They import and market the supplier's liquor.

To confirm the relationship an agency must sign and submit a form called a "Letter of Understanding".

The supplier must  sign and submit a form called a "Letter of Authorization".

What is a liquor supplier?

A liquor supplier is someone who makes liquor, or a person who distributes liquor.

How can I change agencies?

Suppliers can change agencies if they wish (also called an agency transfer).

The process to switch agencies depends on the situation:

Situation 1:

There is inventory and the current agency owns the inventory.

To change agencies, provide these documents to the AGLC:

Situation 2:

There is inventory and the supplier owns the inventory.

To change agencies, provide these documents to the AGLC:
