Sale and Purchase of Retail Sales Data

Sale and Purchase of Retail Sales Data

This letter/bulletin is to advise all Retail Liquor Store Licensees, Liquor Agencies and Liquor Suppliers of important information regarding the sale and purchase of retail sales data.

AGLC has received numerous inquiries into the sale or purchase of retail sales data. The sale/purchase of retail sales data is permitted provided there is no element of inducement within the agreement.

As an example, any agreement whereby a supplier agrees to purchase data in exchange for a licensee carrying their product would be considered an inducement and not in compliance with Sections 81 and 82 of the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation. The Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation can be found at https://aglc.ca/liquor/liquor-legislation-and-policies.

AGLC does not approve data sales agreements; however, inspectors may review agreements to ensure continued compliance with legislation and AGLC policies.

If you have any questions, please contact AGLC’s Compliance Branch at inspections.mailbox@aglc.ca.
