Currency Counters (Charity Use)

Casino Bulletin

August 27, 2024

This bulletin is to advise all casino facility licensees and registered gaming workers of IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS to the Casino Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines (CTCOG). The following policies are effective August 27, 2024.

AGLC is committed to reviewing policies to meet the needs of stakeholders, while maintaining an effective regulatory environment. As a result, policy amendments regarding the provision of currency counters for use by licensed charities have been made as follows:

  • Section 4.3.1 has been updated to include the requirement for facility licensees to provide currency counters as specified for use by licensed charities in the charity cash cage and the charity count room.
  • Section 5.2.1 has been amended to remove repetition as a result of the policy change made to 4.3.1.
  • Section 7.4 has been amended to remove the provision for AGLC to provide currency counters for use by charities.
  • Terminology in the CTCOG has been updated to "currency counters" from "money counting machines".

To ease the transition, AGLC will:

  • Offer casinos the currency counters that are already located in the charity cash cage and the count room for use by charities; and
  • Provide new currency counters as a one-time top up to ensure all casinos have a minimum of three currency counters moving forward. After this initial top-up, casinos will be responsible for procuring and maintaining any future requirements for currency counters.

The amended Casino Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines may be accessed on AGLC's website. Additional information regarding AGLC's commitment to a modern regulatory environment that supports consumer choice, innovation and economic growth can be found on AGLC's website at aglc.ca/modernization.

Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies, update your Casino Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines as required, and ensure all affected staff are notified of the new requirements.
