Hundreds of Alberta entrepreneurs have invested in the cannabis market since legalization. This means more choice for consumers, more opportunities for investors and business owners and more positive economic impact for the province overall.

As of March 2022, Albertans can shop for cannabis products online. Today, there are 256 legal cannabis retailers in the province, and counting. You can browse all licensed Alberta retailers online using AGLC’s cannabis licensee search tool.

Currently, there more than 2,400 different cannabis products available to Alberta consumers – a 630% increase from three years ago.

In 2022, AGLC will contribute over $2.1 billion in revenue to the Government of Alberta’s General Revenue fund. That’s a 23% increase compared to last year. And that’s money that goes straight back into Alberta communities. Money for services like health care, education, infrastructure, housing, youth programs and local community development.

Since legalization, Alberta has seen hundreds of cannabis stores open– we have more per capita than any other province. The industry has also provided new job opportunities for hundreds of Albertans.

More training & awareness

To date, over 35,000 Albertans have taken the AGLC Smart Training SellSafe Cannabis Program, which is designed to help retail cannabis staff understand how to best serve Albertans and abide by Alberta’s cannabis laws.
