Policy Amendment - Host First Nation Use of Proceeds

Host First Nation Bulletin

Policy Amendment – Use of Proceeds

July 26, 2022

This bulletin is to advise all Host First Nation facility licensees and registered gaming workers of IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS to the Host First Nation Charitable Policies Handbook. The following policies are effective July 26, 2022.

  • The amended policy includes a change that provides HFN licensed charities with expanded flexibility to spend gaming proceeds generated through all charitable gaming activities (e.g., bingo, raffle, and/or pull tickets in addition to casino) under the HFNCCPH, to benefit their unique programs and better meet their needs.
    • Section 6.4
      • HFN licensed charities will be able to spend gaming proceeds from licensed bingo, raffle, and/or pull ticket events in accordance with their approved HFNCCPH Use of Proceeds:
        • gaming revenue from these events will continue to be deposited and reconciled (less expenses and approved prizes awarded) in the designated gaming or general account for that gaming licence;
        • once reconciled, in coordination with AGLC, the net proceeds will be transferred into the main casino account; and
        • HFN licensed charities will continue to complete and submit program proposals and expenditures to AGLC to be reviewed and approved in order to spend the net proceeds in their casino account.

The amended Host First Nation Charitable Policies Handbook may be accessed on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca. Additional information regarding AGLC’s commitment to a modern regulatory environment that supports consumer choice, innovation and economic growth can be found on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca/modernization.
