News Release

Lottery prize scams

If you ever receive an email, a letter, a message on social media, or telephone call "from AGLC" or "from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC)" saying that you are the winner of a lottery prize, please disregard it immediately.

AGLC and WCLC do not contact individuals to alert them of winnings or request money to claim a lottery prize.

These acts are being sent by criminals trying to steal from you. Please do not respond, and protect yourself from being a victim of fraud or theft.

If you are concerned that you or someone you know has been the victim of a lottery scam, contact your local police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (1-888-495-8501 or info@antifraudcentre.ca), an anti-fraud task force comprising members of several Canadian police organizations, including the RCMP. WCLC.com also has more information on identifying lottery scams.
