Alberta woman wins $1.77 million Diamond Millions jackpot

Debbie has more than a million reasons to love Alberta’s Diamond Millions progressive slot machine. Debbie says she was at the Jackpot Casino in Red Deer with her husband for lunch on July 8 when she decided to play $20.

“At first I thought I won a thousand dollars, and then realized I’d hit the jackpot – it was so shocking!” she says.

As for Debbie’s plans for the dazzling $1,774,493.19 windfall?

“We’re buying a house!” she says. “Actually, we were already in the process of buying a new home so this money couldn’t have come at a better time. It won’t change who I am – it will just make life so much easier.”

Debbie is the 12th person in Alberta to win more than $1 million playing Diamond Millions since 2012. Diamond Millions can be found at all casinos and Racing Entertainment Centres in Alberta, and the jackpot has been reset to $1 million and will keep growing until we have another winner!

In Alberta, net proceeds from vlts, electronic bingo, lottery tickets and slot machines like Diamond Millions are placed in the Alberta Lottery Fund. Last year alone, in 2013-14, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis contributed $1.5 billion to the fund. This money is used to support thousands of volunteer, public and community-based initiatives each year. Whether you visit a health facility, attend a cultural event or check out a book at a local library, Alberta Lottery Fund dollars are often at work behind the scenes, making a positive impact in the lives of all Albertans.
