High-Caliber additions coming to Play Alberta

The province’s only regulated iGaming platform, Play Alberta, welcomes Calgary Flames’ goaltender Dustin Wolf and Edmonton Oilers’ power forward Leon Draisaitl to the made-for-Alberta lineup.

The agreement with Draisaitl and Wolf will give Play Alberta a boost when it comes to highlighting AGLC’s social responsibility programs, GameSense and Self-Exclusion. The two decorated athletes will be featured in materials that remind players of tools and resources available to them; bet, loss and deposit limits, Reality Checks or a voluntary break from a casino or online. These features make sure that gambling remains a form of entertainment, much like taking in this week’s Battle of Alberta.

“The addition of two new elite athlete ambassadors will help connect Alberta sports fans to Alberta-based teams with some of the most exciting, show-stopping performers this province currently has in it. Leon and Dustin are competitive, world-class professionals who give Play Alberta deeper opportunities to remind legal-aged Albertans of the responsible gambling features and tentpole matchups on the sports calendar.”

Dan Keene, Vice President, Gaming, AGLC

“I’m excited to strengthen my ties to the community through my relationship with Play Alberta. It’s great to work with a local brand that promotes responsible gambling and creates meaningful ways for me to engage with fans—whether it’s through meet and greets or other exciting events.”

Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers

“The chance for me to team up with an up-and-coming, energetic platform like Play Alberta is one that I’m very excited for. I’ve seen firsthand how passionate sports fans in Alberta are and it’s a great opportunity for me to better connect with Flames fans while helping establish Play Alberta’s social responsibility features.”

Dustin Wolf, Calgary Flames

As part of Play Alberta’s partnership with the two, sports fans and social media followers will have the ability to win exclusive meet-and-greets with 2025’s Rocket Richard Trophy winner and the 2025 Calder Trophy finalist throughout the season. Follow @PlayAlbertaCA on Meta and X platforms through October 15 for your chance to win.

With over 434,000 registered player accounts, Play Alberta continues to be an entertainment destination in the province. The official Play Alberta app is available in both the Apple App and Google Play stores. The app delivers a seamless experience for players, delivering the best of the website directly to their mobile devices. Play Alberta has integrated GameSense tools and resources to better support players through their gambling journey. If they need any additional support, GameSense Advisors are available Tuesday through Sunday via the GameSense Info Line at 1–833–447–7523.

Money played in Alberta, stays in Alberta. Play Alberta generated an estimated $275 million in net sales in 2024-25, an increase of more than $35 million from the previous year. That number contributes to the $1.5 billion in total gaming revenue that’s sent to Alberta’s General Revenue Fund and supports programs and services that Albertans rely on every day.
