News Release

Football season wraps up on PlayAlberta.ca

Only one NFL team will lay claim to the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, as Super Bowl LVIII takes places between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

PlayAlberta.ca is the home for bettors in the province looking to find ways to make the game more exciting. In addition to newly created markets specifically for the game, they will also find recently added features such as same-game parlays, odds boosts and enhanced player props on the website.

“Our efforts to make PlayAlberta.ca into a world-class online gambling option continue ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl. With millions more eyes expected for this year’s game, Play Alberta is contributing to the ‘Wildest Dreams’ of football and entertainment fans to present hundreds of more betting markets on Alberta’s only online gambling website. Expanding options for Albertans ensures that their entertainment needs are met while AGLC’s GameSense Program never goes “out of style’”.

Dan Keene, VP, Gaming, AGLC

With these teams having met in Super Bowl LIV a few years ago, there a chance for more ‘Bad Blood’ to emerge after the Kansas City Chiefs overcame a late deficit to win their second Super Bowl title.

On PlayAlberta.ca right now:

  • Shake It Off: Chiefs to lead at half-time; 49ers to win match (6.50/+550)
  • You Need to Calm Down: P. Mahomes (KC) 400+ passing yards and T. Kelce 2+ TDs (41.00/+4000)
  • Blank Space: Scoreless quarter in the game (3.50/+250)
  • Taylor Swift to appear on stage during Usher half-time show (11.00/+1000)

Expanding options on the province’s only regulated gambling website encourages Albertans aged 18-plus to choose to place their bets on a safe and secure website. PlayAlberta.ca continues to integrate AGLC’s best-in-class responsible gambling programs, GameSense and Self-Exclusion, which promote healthy gambling habits and feature tools and resources such as bet, loss and daily session limits.

By using Play Alberta, money played in Alberta stays in Alberta. All revenue generated through Play Alberta goes to the provincial government to support valued programs and services that Albertans rely on every day. In 2022-23, $1.5 billion in net gaming income was generated for the province’s general revenue fund from all provincial gaming activities.
