Raffle Policy Amendments Bulletin 
December 2018.RAF.2

This bulletin is to advise charitable groups, registrants and stakeholders of IMPORTANT changes to raffle policy.

The following raffle policies will be amended effective December 1, 2018:

Raffle Terms & Conditions (Total Ticket Value $10,000 and Less):

  • Change in the maximum total ticket value for a small raffle from $10,000 to $20,000
  • Licensed charities that only conduct small raffles may continue to deposit proceeds earned from the raffle into a general non-gaming bank account
  • Licensed charities that conduct small raffles and other types of charitable gaming (e.g. bingo or casino) must deposit proceeds from the raffle into a current gaming bank account
  • AGLC may determine that additional reporting for small raffles is required
  • Licensed charities are prohibited from offering cannabis as a raffle prize

Raffle Terms & Conditions (Total Ticket Value More Than $10,000):

  • The total ticket value for a large raffle is changed to start at more than $20,000
  • Licensed charities are prohibited from offering cannabis as a raffle prize

Additional amendments related to the changes in raffle total ticket values were also made to the:

  • Electronic Raffle Handbook (also cannabis is prohibited as a raffle prize)
  • Sports Drafts Terms and Conditions
  • Charitable Gaming Policies Handbook

On December 1, 2018 the amended policies can be found on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca.

Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies, update your copies as required and ensure all those affected by the policy changes are notified of the new requirements.
