iGaming Bulletin
February 5, 2026
This bulletin is to advise iGaming Suppliers of IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS to the Standards and Requirements for Internet Gaming (SRIG). The following policy amendments are effective February 5, 2026.
AGLC is committed to reviewing policies to meet the needs of stakeholders, while maintaining an effective regulatory environment. As a result, policy amendments have been made to Section 5.1 of the SRIG:
- The security assurance standard requirement at Subsection 5.1.6 has been amended as follows:
- 5.1.6 a) wording has been amended to indicate the standard at 5.1.6 a) i) is required at market launch, prior to going live; and
- 5.1.6 b) wording has been amended to indicate this standard will come into effect two years after market launch. As well, the updated requirement for this standard is:
- either ISO 27001 certification; or
- SOC 2 Type 2 attestation; or
- an equivalent of either with prior AGLC approval.
In keeping with Government of Alberta’s red tape reduction initiatives, these policies provide industry stakeholders with flexibility and efficiency in running their operations. The amended SRIG may be accessed online.
Please familiarize yourself with the amended policies, update your Standards and Requirements for Internet Gaming as required, and ensure all affected staff are notified of the new requirements.
