Sale of Mixed Drinks for Off‐site Consumption

Liquor Bulletin

December 14, 2020

This bulletin is to advise Class A liquor licensees of an amendment to AGLC’s Liquor Licensee Handbook and Liquor Manufacturer Handbook.

Effective immediately, all Class A licensees are permitted to sell mixed drinks that include liquor for off‐site consumption. Liquor may be sold through take‐out or delivery from licensed establishments with or without the purchase of food.

Liquor products shall be in a sealed, tamperproof container with the container clearly identifying the contents of the product.

Age verification needs to be requested by the delivery person to ensure the recipient of the order is of legal age. Delivery drivers will be required to have ProServe certification and abide by ProServe requirements.

Policy has also been updated permitting “Buckets of Beer” and/or Refreshment Beverage pricing as long as the full menu price is charged for the first drink and a minimum of $2.75 is charged for each subsequent drink.

The amended policy is located in Sections 5.2 and 5.3 of the Liquor Licensee Handbook and Sections 7.2 and 7.3 of the Liquor Manufacturer Handbook, and it may be accessed on AGLC’s website at aglc.ca

If you have any questions, please contact AGLC’s Compliance Branch at inspections.mailbox@aglc.ca.
