Special Olympics Alberta is dedicated to enriching the lives of people with an intellectual disability through sport. We have over 3,300 athletes representing over 140 communities in the province. Special Olympics programs operate every day as 30 community programs offering quality sport programs to all ages and to a wide range of abilities. Our movement uses the transformative power and joy of sport to reveal the full potential of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
AGLC support is a critical component of our funding and the sustainability of our organization, helping us instill confidence, self-esteem, and other life skills in our athletes who also gain healthier and life-long physical fitness habits. We are a catalyst for social change that strengthens communities, changes attitudes and creates a more inclusive society.
