Online Payments - Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to be able to apply and pay for a licence online?

To complete the application and payment online, you will need to have the Application for Liquor Licence or the Application for Liquor Agency Registration that the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) sent in the mail, and a valid credit card. The AGLC accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

How do I access online payment?

Go to the AGLC website at aglc.ca and choose Online Payment at the top of the page. Enter the licence/registration and the invoice numbers that can be found on your Application for Liquor Licence or your Application for Liquor Agency Registration.

Where do I find the licence/registration and invoice numbers?

You can find the licence/registration number on the Application for Liquor Licence or the Application for Liquor Agency Registration, approximately in the middle of the page. The invoice number is in the lower-left-hand corner of the application.

Will I receive a receipt?

If you are paying the invoice online, you will receive a receipt if you provide an email address. You will also have the option to print the receipt after your payment has been accepted.

To receive the receipt can I use any email address?

You should only use an email address that you, or someone you designate, has access to.

Can I print my licence or registration online?

No, the AGLC will process your payment, once the payment has been made, and mail you the certificate. It may take up to four business days to send you the certificate.

When will I receive my licences or registration?

Once the certificate has been mailed through Canada Post, it will depend on your location and the amount to time it normally takes for Canada Post to make its mail delivery.

How do I know if the site is secure?

Your web browser will indicate HTTPS: (the 'S' means secure) and will display a closed padlock or key symbol.

Can I pay for more than one business at a time?

You can only pay for one invoice at a time.

I made a payment yesterday. Why does my invoice still show an amount owing?

Please allow five business days for your online payment to be processed. Your invoice will continue to show as unpaid until the AGLC has completed the payment processing. If after two weeks you have not received your certificate, please call AGLC Liquor Licensing at 780-447-7458 or toll-free at 1-800-272-8876 extension 7458.

I've lost my application form; what do I do?

You should contact AGLC Liquor Licensing at 780-447-7458 or toll-free at 1-800-272-8876 extension 7458 to request a replacement application form as this form has the licence/registration and the invoice numbers, which are required to use the online service.

What happens if I have paid twice or overpaid? How do I get a refund?

After AGLC has processed your payment(s) and identified an overpayment, the overpayment will be refunded back to your credit card within ten business days of the last payment date.

Can I pay my fine online?

No. You can only pay for the reissue of your liquor licence or liquor registration online.

Who can see my credit card information?

Only TD Beanstream, an approved vendor to process these payments, will be able to see your credit card information. The AGLC does not see or retain your credit card information.

If there is a change to the information on my application, can I still pay online?

No. If there is a change to the information on your application, you must contact AGLC Liquor Licensing at 780-447-7458 or toll-free at 1-800-272-8876 extension 7458 to have the change(s) completed before paying the invoice.
