Becoming a Casino Advisor

Anyone seeking employment as a Casino Advisor in a licensed traditional casino facility or a Host First Nation casino facility within the province of Alberta must be registered with Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.

Casino Advisors are independently contracted by charitable organizations licensed to conduct a casino event. There are three separate casino advisor positions: Cash Cage Advisor; Count Room Advisor or Dual Advisor (combination of both the Cash Cage and Count Room positions).

Prior to becoming registered as a Casino Advisor, the following must be completed:

  • Completion of written exam administered by AGLC. Exams are held twice a year in St. Albert, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Red Deer and Lethbridge. Pre-registration is required for each exam date. The Registration Application for Casino Advisor Examination must be completed and submitted with a $100 exam fee and a current security clearance dated within the last three months, provided by your local police authority or RCMP. The exam will be based on the Casino Terms and Conditions and Operating Guidelines (CTCOG) Sections 1 through 8, as well as the Gaming and Liquor Act, and Gaming and Liquor Regulation.
  • Upon successful completion of the written exam, the applicant will be given a six month Temporary Training registration. It is the responsibility of the applicant to locate and apprentice with a registered casino advisor in order to complete the required training. Please refer to CTCOG Section 6.3.5.
  • In addition to the mandated training, the applicant will be required to provide full financial disclosure information to be reviewed by the Due Diligence section of the AGLC.

Once the training hours have been finalized and the due diligence disclosure approved, the applicant will be registered accordingly as a Casino Advisor. For information on upcoming advisor exam dates, please contact the Licensing Registration section at 780-447-8600 or by email at gaming.registrations@aglc.ca.
