Tips for Responsible Gambling

  • Remember, the house always has the advantage.
  • Before playing, educate yourself on how the game works.
  • Set a budget and stick to it.
  • Do not chase losses, accept them as a cost for the entertainment.
  • Take frequent breaks.
  • Use only money from your entertainment budget; do not borrow money.
  • Balance gambling with your other leisure choices.
  • Know the warning signs of problem gambling.
AGLC

AGLC originally partnered with Alberta Health Services (at that time AADAC) and the Alberta Charitable Casino Operators Association to launch RGAW. In years since, the week has expanded beyond casinos and Racing Entertainment Centres, into VLT retail outlets and bingo halls. Additional partners have come on board with the addition of the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association, the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association and Bingo Alberta.

Remember to treat gambling as a form of entertainment and not as a way to make money. Set a limit on your spending before you start to play, and stop once you have reached that limit.

Visit the Responsible Gambling section of this website for more tips, myths and facts, and for information on responsible gambling programs administered and supported by the AGLC and its gaming industry partners.
